A Tres Jolie Card

I created this card following Kazan's sketch at 2Sketches4You using this lovely Tres Jolie paper line called Mademoiselle. I loved it when I bought it and I still love it! It has such a soft, vintage-y look that I embellished with flowers, lace and pearls. I also distressed it a bit with ink and some tearing.

What paper have you had awhile that you still love?

Brownies Two Ways

This weekend Brittany made brownies in a couple of different ways.

The first was following this awesome fudgey brownie recipe that I have blogged about before.

This was Brittany's first time making them and they turned out wonderfully!

The second was making them in a mug!

This brownie tasted good too and would be even better topped with ice cream! This would be fun to try with your kids or just for yourself.

Here's the recipe:

4 T flour
4 T sugar
2 T cocoa
dash salt
2 T vegetable oil
2 T water
1/4 tsp vanilla

Whisk together dry ingredients in a large mug. Add oil, water and vanilla. Mix thoroughly. Microwave on high for 1 1/2 minutes. Cool a couple of minutes and eat!

Basic Grey Card

One last card for today using up some Basic Grey Euphoria and Oh Boy scraps. It was designed keeping mind the Basic Grey Challenge to round all the corners.

I did leave the top two corners squared though!

I'm very happy with how all the elements used on this card came together. I think the flowers, ribbon, bling, button and thread work great with these papers!

Have a good Sunday everyone!

BoBunny Card Sketch

The BoBunny blog has a card sketch up this week that everyone is invited to use as inspiration. I found some paper scraps I had from the BoBunny Anna Sophia line then following their sketch created this card. I thought since it was their sketch it was only fair that I use BoBunny paper.

I was also inspired by the dare at DCM to create a card using 3 papers, chipboard, a button, ribbon and one other item. So not only did I follow the BoBunny sketch but I met the dare! My one other item were the Prima flowers. I painted the chipboard in blue then glimmermisted it in olive to tone the blue down a bit. Doesn't it match the button almost perfectly?

A Glittered Chandelier

I created this card in keeping with the Cuttlebug Challenge this week of using glitter.

I mounted this sticker by Hambly on cardstock then glittered it. I then kept the card very simple to emphasize the chandelier. It does look more glittery in real life than it appears in the photo.

I used the swirls embossing folder underneath then the just my type embossing edge on either side. On the inside of the card I've stamped 'Hang In There'.

I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.

Altered Mini Composition Books

I've been working my way through various unfinished projects and found these composition books the other day. So while scrapbooking Friday night with friends I finished them up

The first three use Melissa Frances paper so I've trimmed them in lacey bits with flowers and buttons in keeping with the paper's vintage look.

The last is more of a French Country look that I also love.

And Twisted Chick is having an altered notebook challenge this week and these fit right in! There may be a couple more coming as well, Brianne and I found more at the dollar store yesterday!

4th Folder 4th Photo

Stephanie of Adventures in Life tagged me and so I must play along!

The instructions are to go to the fourth file in your picture folder. Then choose the fourth picture and post it on your blog.

This is a photo of Brianne taken at Sherkston Shores in the summer of 2007.

And playing tag isn't any fun unless I tag some of you too! So I tag Mom, Holly, Karen, Janet, Hendia and Joanne. Even if I haven't tagged you, please do play along and let me know you did!

Spring Inspired Cards

I created a couple of cards tonight using the papers and cardstock stickers I won from Emma's Paperie a little while ago.

First is a card based on Laura's sketch at 2 Sketches 4 You.

The flower is popped up on foam dots for dimension and I'm liking the freshness of this card.

The second is based on CPS #106. Again, I kept this card fresh-looking adding the die cuts to one layer of cardstock on a white background.

I created a pocket on the inside of this card to put a packet of seeds in. I think it would be a nice card for a gardener.

Scrapbook Studio Detailed Look

I'm back with a more detailed look at some of the things in my scrapbook studio, I know you've been waiting with bated breathe ...........I know, I'm delusional but happy........

The wire basket holding some odds and ends was purchased for $1 at a garage sale last spring. Also on my desk is a scented candle that I like to burn while I'm crafting.

Here's my altered tray filled with goodies and a $1 store mirror to alter. The memo board was a deal I found at Kohls on a shopping trip to the US. Also on the table is my latest favourite CD by David Cook.

A closer look at the inspire letters and the curtain I made. On another shopping trip to the US, I found the toile fabric as well as the stripe and knew it would look wonderful with my paint colours. Just measured the window then sewed one long rectangle with a pocket for the rod and voila, a custom curtain!

This is my altered bulletin board. Before it was just a brown ,rather sorry looking corkboard but then I painted it blue and hot glued on some fabric. Then I embellished it with extra wide ric rack and ribbon. The ribbon is held in place with thumbtacks on which I glued buttons. It thanks me daily for giving it new life........I know, there's those delusions again.......but I'm happy......

And on my shelves, a Melissa Frances star, a cute birdie (I have a thing for birds right now), clips and pegs I altered, vintage-look teacups I found at Home Sense to hold little bits and an altered chipboard letter R.

And last but not least, also on my shelf, some scrapbooking bears given to me a dear friend that is perfect for my scrapbook studio!

I hope you've enjoyed this look around my scrapbook studio.

My Scrapbook Room or Space or Studio

At long last I am sharing photos of my scrapbook room. It took me so long because I wanted it to be 'perfectly' organized. Then it occurred to me at that rate I'd never show it because I'm not sure it will ever be 'perfectly' organized.

I was pleasantly surprised when I looked at the photos because I think the room looks better in the photos! Kind of like garden photos, you don't see all the imperfections in a photo.

Anyway, I'll share my photos over a couple of posts, first a more general look then a closer look at some of the items I treasure, created or think are worth mentioning.

The first photo is looking through the door into my my scrapbook space, love the metal brown star that my Mom gave me.

I painted(OK, Steve painted) the room robin's egg blue with a dark brown accent wall. I love it! With white shelving, it seems fresh and soothing at the same time.

I use two inexpensive country kitchen tables as my work surfaces and two large bookshelving units from Ikea for my supplies. Of course I do have some overflow onto another shelf that's in our furnace area right beside my studio too!(working with different terminology's here to find the best fit, lol) I try to keep one of tables clear for working on although at times it ends up a dumping ground for all sorts stuff.

I love the latest addition of the TV to my scrapbook studio, I create while(or whilst for any English readers) listening to my favourite shows.

I also have two Ikea shelves(below) on which I've placed things that I like, things I think are pretty or things that inspire me in some way. I found the inspire letters on sale at HomeSense and had to buy them for the window sill. (And yes, my studio is in the basement. Sometime I'll have to show you the boot slippers I recently bought to keep my feet warm, lol!)

And there is also this little shelf left by the previous house owner who had a doll refurbishing hobby. I use it to display some of my completed projects, embellishments and other treasures.

That completes the first look at my studio(liking this word), stay tuned for few more highlights in my next post later this week.

Watercolours

This week the Be Inspired Challenge at Cuttlebug Challenges is to use watercolours.

I thought about this one awhile then looked through my scraps where I found a scrap of Basic Grey paper that is definitely watercolour inspired. I embossed it with swirls then embossed the three flowers on white cardstock. I coloured the flowers with Copic markers(I'm definitely a beginner with them!) and added some bling! Next, I added pink and green cardstock(edge created with a Martha punch). A sentiment and bit more bling completed the card.

On a completely different note, Steve and I ventured out in the rain to see Slumdog Millionaire last night. I thought after all the hype/awards I might be disappointed but I wasn't. It was a very good movie and one I would recommend.

Enjoy your Sunday everyone!
