Little Red Wagon Challenge #170 - Jars!

Happy Wednesday!

it's my week to set the Little Red Wagon challenge and I don't know about you but I'm totally inspired by all the different ways people use jars, just search on Pinterest and you'll find hundreds.

So I thought why not have a challenge featuring jars. It can be a diecut, stamp, patterned paper or even a decorated glass jar.

I dug through my wagon, and using Basic Grey lemonade papers, the Papertrey Friendship Jar die and stamp set as well as the Button Boutique stamp set, created a jar filled with buttons to place on my card:

So why not play along with us this week and link up your creation over at Little Red Wagon.

We love to see what you create!

Cinnamon Banana Chocolate Chip Cake

I've been meaning to share this recipe for ages!

I'm not a big fan of banana baked muffins, loaves etc but this cake is not too banana'y'. And it makes such a large pan, it's terrific for a potluck.

The recipe is from The Idea Room blog.

1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
2 ripe bananas
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. baking soda
1 dash salt
3 cups flour
1 pint sour cream (2 cups) or vanilla yogurt
Blend butter, sugar, bananas, eggs and vanilla. Add remaining ingredients. In another bowl make the filling.

Filling:
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 Tbs. cinnamon
1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
1 cup chocolate chips (optional…but why wouldn’t you?)
Layer batter and filling twice in a 9X13 dish. Bake 350 degrees F for 45 minutes.
* Sometimes the middle of the cake needs to bake longer. If so, put foil over the cake after the 45 minutes and bake it for another 5 minutes. Test with a toothpick in the middle to see if the batter sticks to it, if it comes out clean…the cake is finished.

Enjoy!

Christmas Sweets, Decor and Charades

Well , here I am finally posting some photos from Christmas.

One of the things I look forward to every year, my Mom's baking.

Gingerbread, tarts, peanut brittle, fudge and more, all so so good!

And then for dessert, the traditional crepes frangipane and  a new recipe, black forest pavlova, both so good!

Mom's  seasonal village.

Mom's pretty  centrepiece.

Brianne and Dan wore matching sweaters!

And then after we warmed up with pictionary, we played charades, not sure what Steve is acting out here.

And Sherry's interesting pose.

It was a really fun day spent with and enjoying family.

Gift Wrap Ideas

Although I haven't officially made any New Year's resolutions this year I have a couple of goals in mind for 2013, one of which is use the stuff I have!

A great way to up bits of lace, trim etc is to use them to wrap gifts.

I wrapped a couple of gifts this past Christmas in kraft paper then added some lace, ribbon, pompoms etc:

I hope to share more gifts wrapped using bits of stuff I have throughout the year.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!
