Remember this?
I submitted it to the Papercrafts blog and it won.
Well my prize recently arrived and included 2 magazines, glitter, stamps and flock!
I've enjoyed browsing through these magazines and found some great inspiration. The card purse from yesterday was designed after one I saw in Card Creations. I've got some other fun ideas brewing too! Stay tuned!

Monogram Card Set
This week's Be Inspired at CCC is to create a monogram card set or card.
I decided to go for it and create a set!
I used an 'R' stamp I received for my birthday last year, along with some new African gold embossing powder to create the monogram. Then using my cuttlebug and spellbinders cut them out.
I then used some Amy Butler paper and various embossing folders and border punches to create four cards.
I finished up by creating a holder for the cards. Hmm, I guess I'll need to give these cards to someone whose name starts with 'R'!
Have a great day everyone! Enjoy the sunshine!

Hello!
How is everyone this sunny, saturday morning?
I'm going out to prune our front shrubs and plant some annuals in a bit. But first wanted to share a few cards.
I did spend some successful time in my scrapbook studio last night and created this card for 'Use It' as well as 'DCM'.
For Use It, Patti challenged us with the following:
1) Use some old chipboard
Go ahead and feel free to mix & match manufacturers.
2) Use buttons
- one of my very favorite embellishments.
3) Tear some paper.
Patterned paper or cardstock.
4) Optional: Stitch.
Machine or hand stitch, it's up to you.
5) Have fun!!
This is essential
Then for DCM, the challenge is use 5 of one item.
So using some bright Mind's Eye papers, with a Maya Road chipboard bird, 5 buttons and my Bazzil stitch template, I created this 'hello' card.
I'm pretty happy with it! I really should handstitch more often!

Bird Song Cards
Here's a quick look at some cards I designed for Younique using the Bird Song line by KaiserCraft.
Heather at Younique will have them available as a class or kit during June.
Tonight Brittany is having a friend sleepover, Brianne is out and Steve is at a golf dinner so I'm going to spend sometime in my scrapbook studio. Hopefully I'll be productive and be able to show you the results tomorrow!

Use It Challenge 11
Ingrid's challenge at Use It this week is to:
1. Use a square card base.
2. In a summer theme
3. Add a flower(s), ribbon, pin(s) and twine
4. And use a punch(es)
I created this 6 by 6 card totally from my scraps.
I think the bright freshness of pink and green together is very summerlike as are the words on the green patterned paper.
I used a Martha punch that I should use more often, love the curves of it. Then I added ribbon, a flower and pins.
Oops, I forgot the twine.

BBQ Food
For our birthday celebration, we had the first of the summer's many bbq's with hamburgers and sausages.
But I did set the table in the dining room so that we could all sit and eat together rather than on our laps.
The girls helped to set the table and we used some flower table confetti I recently found at Pier 1. Combined with dollar store napkins and market lilies the table looks pretty festive. Somehow after dinner, a lot of this confetti ended up on the floor!
And we made dark chocolate and cashew bark with a few Lindor chocolates for table favours.
For an appetizer I made hummus using the recipe from Pioneer Woman. I made it in a blender so its not quite as smooth as store bought but it tastes so much fresher. Next time I'll try it in a food processer.
My sister made an olive tapenade that I didn't get a pic of. It was yummy on a baguette over cream cheese.
She also made this terrific salad with recipe from Martha. I'll be making this one again.
My Mom made her awesome potato salad and devilled eggs!
Brittany told me she's eating the rest of the eggs today and I don't get to have any! They are her favourite!
I made our new favourite broccoli salad that I blogged about here.
Then at Brittany's request, I made a Maple Cake. I found the recipe at Country Living
It looks great, the maple sugar icing is yummy but the cake was dry (boo).
If you have any ideas,I'd love to hear some tips on how to make it less dry for next time.

Jeans N Classics - Woodstock Revisited
Just back from Centre in the Square where we saw the Jeans N Classics band perform Woodstock Revisited with the K-W Symphony Orchestra.
John Regan described it as one of their coolest shows and it was!
From Jefferson Airplane to Joe Cocker, Santana and Janis Joplin, each and every song was expertly performed. And as Rik Emmett said, how cool to be able to perform in front of an orchestra. How fortunate are we to have a local orchestra!
Of course, Rik's guitar stylings of Jimi Hendrix and Santana are unparalleled but the highlight of the evening for me was Summertime, a Janis Joplin version performed by Katalin Kiss. Summertime started with a clarinet solo after which the clarinet continued to be beautifully played throughout the song. In my opinion, the clarinet is a highly under appreciated instrument, one I'm proud to say my nephew is learning to play.
Jeans N Classics will be back with 4 shows for the next season and I'll be there!

Hearts and Butterflies
Be Inspired 32 at CCC is to use hearts and butterflies. I used my Martha heart and butterfly punches, which I then embossed to decorate these little pail candleholders.
They will be used this weekend as table favours!
And I decorated one glass candleholder too!

Container Pots 2009
Yesterday, I planted my container pots based on ideas from Proven Winners(like I did last year). We'll see if they turn out like the website photos.
Here's how they look now:
And here's the website inspiration:
Missouri Waltz - love the elegance of this one
