What A Day!

It started out uneventful enough, took Brittany to school, went to Curves, picked Britt up from school as she wasn't feeling well(this was unusual), cleaned the house, checked a few blogs and made cupcakes bites for a get together with friends tomorrow. By mid-afternoon though Brittany's fever was climbing and she was complaining of a sore neck. She just returned from a 3 day camp with the school(she had a great time!) yesterday afternoon so I was concerned about the sore neck. I called my doctor who advised me to take her to emerg as he was just leaving to catch a plane. So mid-afternoon Britt and I headed to emerg and it was busy, sigh. They gave her tylenol when we arrived as her fever had gone even higher, then we waited, and waited and waited. Another quick visit with the nurse to check her temperature, it was normal, then we waited some more. Finally we saw the doctor after 4 hours and 45 minutes of waiting. And we were gone 5 hours after arriving. After checking her neck and motor abilities fairly thoroughly(or as thoroughly as you can in 10 minutes), he diagnosed a virus, with treatment of tylenol and rest. And he reassured me that I did the right thing by bringing her there. Interestingly enough, we ran in to another child at emerg who had also been to camp and may have a kidney infection. Then at home I had a message waiting for me from the Public Health Nurse as they are investigating the reports of several illnesses of the children who went to the camp. Brittany said that about half the students were absent from school today. So we'll see how that turns out, not a nice way to end camp.

After a quick dinner of grilled cheese, I quickly made a card that took under 30 minutes for this week's DCM challenge and the Papertake 'hot' challenge.....needed a bit of computer time, a glass of wine and scrapbooking to unwind!
