Happy Halloween!

These are our jack-o-lanterns for this year, I really like how the 'boo' turned out!

I'm off to a halloween crop tonight, it should be fun! I'm dressing as a witch!

I wish everyone a very spooky halloween with lots of treats and maybe just a couple of tricks!

Younique Design Team

As I thought would happen, I will be taking a break this week from card making challenges and part of the reason is this, I've been selected to be on the first Younique Design Team! How cool is that?!

Heather runs excellent retreats and day crops and I'm honoured to be on her team.

For my first assignment(due by Nov 1), I'm creating some seasonal cards and other items from Reminisce's Christmas line called Christmas Basics. This is a pic of some of the items I'll be using.

I'll be sure to show you my creations next week!

Successful Shopping!

As these bags can attest to, we had a very successful shopping weekend!Gotta love the sales, why don't we have the same sales in Canada that the Americans do!

My purchases!

Kathryn's purchases!

Unfortunately some of my pictures didn't turn out but here's one of Kathryn, Pat and Sandy after our first shopping stop, the Duty Free store!

And I'm going back for more shopping(Christmas shopping mostly for me) in two weeks with my Mom, Aunt and Sister! Should be fun!

White Pumpkins

I've admired the seasonal displays I've seen on blogs using white pumpkins and decided to create one too.

I've arranged them on my mantel (they are imitation from Michaels) with last year's flowers and leaves.

I used some scrapbooking ink to darken up the grooves but I think they need a bit more. At some point I'll try dry brushing on some sepia paint but for now they provide the seasonal look I was wanting.

JOY

I am thrilled with this week's Cuttlebug Challenge to use patterned paper. I've been meaning to try it for awhile and decided I'd better make this card tonight as I'm gone for the weekend.

I used the swiss dot embossing folder on both pieces of paper and love the effect it gives.

I finished the one edge with a Martha Stewart border punch.
I'm so pleased with how the glittery letters, snowflake, ribbon and rhinestones all came together on this card!

Busy Weekend

As I mentioned in a previous post, this past weekend was a busy one!

Friday night we went with a group of friends to Oktoberfest to see David Wilcox. It was a fun and late evening.

Here's a pic of Steve, Kevin, Cody and David Wilcox too!

Then Saturday night I went with my Mom to Orangeville for my cousin Chris' surprise 40th birthday party.

This is Chris, what do you think, does he look 40?!

And Sunday it was off to the CreativFestival in Toronto with Kathryn. It was a great show of sewing, needlework, beading, knitting and scrapbooking supplies! We ran into Karen there, she runs a local scrapbooking retreat business and has recently opened up a new studio too!

Here's a pic of me and Karen.

And this weekend coming I'm off on an annual shopping bus trip to Birch Run in Michigan. But I don't have to stock up on Bath and Body Works soap anymore, they've opened up a few stores here! Stopped at the one in Guelph on the way home from Toronto, love all of their products! I'll be sure too take some shopping pics to post next week!

Hi!

I've had a busy weekend and have a busy week coming up! So I thought I'd better make my card for 2 Sketches 4 You tonight or it likely wouldn't get done. I'm actually thinking of taking a cardmaking break for a bit as I have things to finish up around the house that aren't getting done! But I'll decide on that next week.

In the meantime, hi to all my blog readers!

Happy Birthday to My Mom!

Hope you have a great day Mom!

Embossed Sour Cream Containers

This week's cuttlebug challenge is to create something other then a card or to alter an item using our embossing folders.

When I was at the Creative Festival today, I saw this idea, making a sour cream container with an embossed piece of cardstock. I used the Christmas Ornaments embossing folder to create the container then I kicked it up a notch by adding an embellished tag using the 'For You' die cut and embossing folder.

Filled with Christmas goodies, wouldn't these make great place setting gifts?

To My Favourite Youngest Daughter......

.... be yourself!

I was so pleased with Brittany's grade 8 photos, that I couldn't wait to create this layout!

This same daughter told me I'm a good mother this week and didn't even ask for anything afterwards!

With Heartfelt Thanks

I am particularly proud of this card. Following Kazan's sketch at 2S4U, I used paper I received in a RAK some time ago, along with some trims my grandmother recently gave me. Then I used the Ranger crackle paint on the chipboard flower, love how that turned out, along with some machine sewing.

This week I am dedicating this card to my Mom and Grandmother who both instilled in me a love of crafting and creating.

A childhood memory of my Mom is the spring and summers my Mom started all her flowers from seed, taking joy in the process of planting them and nurturing them through the summer. She has always encouraged my attempts at gardening although I am not nearly the green thumb she is. She has created and continues to create wonderful flower arrangements. She also worked with ceramics for a time, as well as crocheted and knit. She taught me to knit and more recently crochet(but the scarf isn't done yet Mom!)and always encourages me in all my interests, including blogging.

My Grandmother has always been crafty(giggle), making all sorts of interesting things. She helped me make balloon curtains(it was the early 90's afterall) for the first house Steve and I bought. She is an excellent seamstress and has made me dresses long and short, a skating outfit and many other items that I still have and treasure. And more recently aprons too!But her claim to fame is her love of quilting. She has created many quilts of which I have a few, as does my Mom, my Aunt, my sister and all her other grandchildren.

So this card is for you Mom and Grandma, thanks so much for passing on to me the love of creating and crafting!

Cotton Candy, Corndogs, Peameal Bacon on a Bun

Yes, we spent Thanksgiving Monday at the Norfolk County Fall Fair with my Mom. It was a wonderful day and I couldn't resist taking this stereotypical photo of what a Canadian eats at a fair!

Mom has a great post of our day at the fair here and I've added some of my own fair pics in the slide show below! I think I feel a fun layout coming on with all the colourful food stands!

Trip to the Pumpkin Patch

Its been a wonderful weekend with the sunshine and warm temps expected to continue through tomorrow, yippee, because we're planning to go to a fall fair!

We took advantage of the warm weather today to go to the pumpkin patch and decorate the front porch. I really like how they left a good bit of vine on most of the pumpkins!

I decided to use my pineapple sage plant as the background instead of corn stalks.I'm pleased with how it turned out.

And a few more porch views.
