Annual Albums - Post 1

Every year for Christmas I make each of my girls a small album, just for them , using pictures taken over the past year. As I'm not going to be able to update my blog for a few days, I thought I'd share some of the layouts from these albums over the next few programmed in advance posts.

More to come!

Book Challenge - Sour Cream-Pineapple Muffins

Grab the nearest book.
* Open the book to page 56.
* Find the fifth sentence.
* Post the text of the next two to five sentences in your blog along with these instructions.
* Don't dig for your favorite book, the cool book, or the intellectual one: pick the CLOSEST.

I saw this awhile back at the every little thing blog and finally had a chance to give it a go.

I have cookbooks near the computer and happened to pick up my Muffin Mania cookbook.

Because this is a cookbook, I have posted the whole recipe from page 56 as follows:

Sour Cream-Pineapple Muffins

1/4 cup white sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup butter(soft)
1 cup sour cream
1 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup well drained, crushed pineapple

Measure sugar, egg, soft butter and sour cream into bowl and beat. Stir together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add cream mixture to dry ingredients and stir until moistened. Stir in pineapple to mix. Fill greased or lined muffin cups and bake at 375 for 15 to 20minutes.

I haven't made these muffins but they do sound good don't they?

Please link back here if you ty this challenge, I'd love to see what books you have nearby!

This Skirt

looks like an average jean skirt but it isn't! I found it in our closet clean out last weekend.

It used to be my daughter's skirt but then a couple of years ago she lost about 20 pounds. And this past year I lost some weight. So guess what, this skirt now fits me! I can't tell what size it is as that part of the tag is missing but you know what it doesn't matter, I'm thrilled !!!

New Stamps

I've really expanded my cardmaking over the past year and I do use the cards I make.

But when I send them I do like to stamp the reverse with a handmade image.

Kathryn, knowing how much I like to make cards, gave me two new stamps for Christmas both a take off of hallmark cards.

The top one says 'when you care enough to make it yourself' and the bottom says handmade.

I love them both, thanks Kathryn!

A Few Cards

First up is a card I loosely based on last week's Papertake sketch using Basic Grey's Euphoria line.

Then I made this card for the Cuttlebug challenge of using your favourite embossing folder. My favourite is the Swiss Dot folder.

For this card I've used the swiss dot on patterned Crate Paper then used an embossed border with raised flowers and bling.

And finally I created this card with the Winter House embossing folder. I then embossed the houses a second time, cut them out and used foam dots to adhere. They create a nice depth.

I kept it simple with a few rhinestones for glitter and again used a piece of the Euphoria line to create the card base.

Have a great evening!

Brittany - Grade 8

I recently completed this layout using Basic Grey's Euphoria line and Brittany's grade 8 school pic.

She's on to high school next year, in fact, we picked out her Grade 9 courses this weekend.
